Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP)

[caption id="attachment_8186" align="alignleft" width="150"]RIAI Accredited & qualified Project Supervisor Design Process RIAI Accredited & qualified Project Supervisor Design Process[/caption]Clients are one of the duty holders that have duties under the Construction Regulations (Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013) to ensure their project is designed and constructed by competent persons.

THIS PRODUCT ONLY APPLIES IF MARK STEPHENS ARCHITECTS ARE APPOINTED AS DESIGNERS/ARCHITECTS

These duties now apply to the majority of domestic work including new houses and extensions. The Construction regulations apply if:

• There is more than one contractor involved in the work, or
• There is a particular risk (see below), or
• The work is going to last more than 30 days or more than 500 person days.

As you can see the majority of domestic construction projects will now full under these regulations. You can read more about these regulations and how they affect you and your project HERE.

As a Qualified and Accredited PSDP (Project Supervisor Design Process) with the RIAI we are pleased to offer this service to our clients which is bookable and payable online *.

Our PSDP service includes:

• Information and Guidance for the client advise him/her of their duties as regards Health and Safety
• Agreement using Mark Stephens Architects as PSDP
• Completion of Form AF1
• Site meetings for PSDP duties
• Taking charge of any current Safety File or Health and Safety Plan (if available)
• Pre-qualification of Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) and Contractors
• Appointment of Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS)
• issue any directions (as required) Under S.I. No. 504 of 2006 Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006 – Part 2 – Section 14
• Complete the Design Risk Assessment (this is to identify hazards arising from the design or from the technical, organisational, planning or time related aspects of the project)
• Complete the Preliminary Safety and Health Plan
• Prepare a safety file for the completed structure and give it to the client

The key strategies that are included in the above are:

• To identify hazards arising from the design or from the technical, organisational, planning or time related aspects of the project
• To organise co-operation and coordination between designers to ensure safety
• To eliminate the hazards or reduce the risks
• To communicate necessary control measures, design assumptions or remaining risks to the PSCS so they can be dealt with in the safety and health plan
