A short bio on YT

I’ve been asked to put together a short biog on myself for the ATU website and thought I’d share it here too where you can know a little more about me:

Mark Stephens MRIAI PGCert (Teaching)

Mark Stephens is a lecturer in the Architecture department where he has taught across all the years in the BArch programme – the first provisionally accredited Architecture course with the RIAI in the West of Ireland.

Originally born and trained as an architect in the UK under the ARB and RIBA, he moved to Ireland with his family in 2002 and is now a registered RIAI architect and runs an architectural practice from Swinford, Co. Mayo. You can read more about his practice on THIS LINK (opens in new window). Now a proud Irish citizen he also divides his time lecturing in architecture where his specialties are Professional Studies, Low Energy design and Conservation.

As well as being registered as an architect with the RIAI, he also has RIAI Accreditation in Conservation (Grade III but in process of upgrading to Grade I/II), Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) and Environmentalism. Mark is also a Certified European Passivhaus Consultant/Designer with the Passivhaus Institute in Darmstadt, Germany.

Mark has also just successfully completed and passed a Level 9 PostGrad Certificate in Effective Teaching, Learning and Assessment combined with a Digital UDL badge that ensures inclusivity and equity for all students in the class room.
