I wrote THIS POST a while back on the Magnificent Seven Churches by Liam McCormick in County Donegal.
After a long overdue visit I finally got to St. Brigid’s Church by McCormick in Ballybane, County Galway.
Unfortunately the church was closed at the time of the visit – very rare for a Catholic Church but I did get a few photos of the inside through the small exterior windows.
“St. Brigid’s church at Ballybane on the outskirts of Galway City (1986-7) designed as a consultant to O’Riain and Yates of Moycullen, shows a return to the fully circular plan. It was built with stone walls and a conical asbestos-cement slate roof, and is completely surrounded by a moat into which the rainwater cascades, directly off the main roof” Lamor P & O’Toole S, (2009) North by Northwest, Gandon Editions p62
